In 1979, just a decade after Wendy Carlos had made history with her synthesized Switched-on Bach, Christian Bruhn, under the pseudonym of Carlos Futura, released the album Bach for Computer. This second album contains Bach for Bachelors, a synth-pop reworking of the Prelude in C minor (BWV 999), originally for lute, that belies the importance of its historic origins.
Bruhn, born in 1934, is the composer of scores from post-war German television and film, including an entirely original, funk-inspired soundtrack for an adaptation of the Japanese anime series, Captain Future, that enjoys cult status among popular music enthusiasts around the world.
